Colorado Springs Western Artist Branding Session- Unicorn of the West
Heidi with Unicorn of the West, is one of the most talented Western Artists I have ever encountered! Located in Colorado Springs, she makes stunning custom hats and is a salt of the earth human being. In addition to making made-to-order hats, she also often hosts hat bars for private events and at local establishments.
Planning
Heidi had an amazing vision for our second branding session together. She wanted to create a Western Vogue inspired shoot that showed off her stunning hats in an editorial fashion. Herself and her sister were the models; they provided flawlessly styled outfits with hair and makeup styled to perfection by the talented Ally’s Beauty Bar. We chose Palmer Park for the location for the gorgeous white rocks, prairie grass, and distant mountain views. It provided the perfect landscape for the Western-inspired vibes.
Day Of
This was the PERFECT day for a photoshoot. The park was pretty empty, so we were able to get all of the shots that we wanted with plenty of time before the sun set. We started the session at the rock formations and captured some fun harsh sun lighting photos.
The models then changed into their second outfits, which were a little more of an edgy vibe. We used lots of movement and props to capture some really great shots.
For outfit number three, we had a TON of fun running on the dirt road, embracing what it means to be a cowgirl. We used Heidi’s Solara for some fun car shots as well.
The sun was beginning to set as the models changed into their fourth outfits. We headed up to the tall prairie grass and had fun playing cards while also reading Vogue and Cowboys & Indians magazines.
By the time the sun had set, they changed into their fifth and final outfits. We took some flash and shadow photos that really rounded out our time together.

Good to Know
As always, when taking photos anywhere, it is so important to be aware of your surroundings with wildlife, stay on designated trails or pull-off areas, and be courteous to other people in the park!
