Garden of the Gods Engagement Session

Monica and Daniel envisioned a dreamy engagement session at Garden of the Gods that would show off the love they had for one another. I would say that we NAILED it.

Planning

These two sweet humans hired me to capture their December 2023 wedding. Included in my wedding packages, is a complimentary engagement session. They decided to take their photos in March to give their loved ones plenty of time to plan ahead for their big day (which is FULLY the right way to do it!). Monica knew she wanted a fancier and more casual outfit, so we planned on using two different spots at the park to highlight the two different vibes!

Day Of

We started our session at High Point Overlook. This is one of my FAVORITE spots at Garden of the Gods. It is easy to park at, has gorgeous views, and has no shortage of spots to take pictures at. We had a blast running around and getting some super fun photos in. Before we moved to our second location, I noticed that Daniel had a truck! I quickly asked them if they wanted to have a few photos that incorporated it, and Daniel was HAPPY to oblige. I love when I get the opportunity to be a little creative on the spot!

From there, we drove down the road to another little parking lot at Garden of the Gods. When you look up this spot online, it is just down the trail from the DAR Indian Trail Monument. I love this spot for its gorgeous field and how you can be practically eye-level with all of the stunning red and tan rocks. Not only did we have a ton of fun running around, we even got greeted by some deer! We kept our distance and let them be, but they photo bombed a few of our photos - which was SO fun.

Once it started to get dark, we wrapped up our session together. We finished it off with a celebratory champagne pop! This is one of my favorite things to do when couples bring a little bubbly. It is such a sweet way to commemorate one thing being checked off their wedding to-do list and celebrate the fact that they are engaged!

Good to Know

Garden of the Gods is an incredibly popular place to take photos at. It is STUNNING and full of amazing backdrops. With that being said, it can get packed full of photographers and tourists! It is best to try and plan your photoshoot for a weekday evening. If you take photos here on the weekend or during the day, be prepared to wait for spots and having to edit people out of the background!

It is also important to be aware of your surroundings with wildlife, stay on designated trails or pull-off areas, and be courteous to other people in the park!
